AI-Accelerated Migration - Xamarin to .NET MAUI in 4 Days
The Challenge
A Norwegian children's-research non-profit ran an Android-only field app on Xamarin.Forms. Google Play announced it was deprecating Xamarin.Forms support, putting the app at risk of removal. A typical migration to .NET MAUI takes 4-8 weeks - time the programme did not have.
What I Built / Delivered
Used AI to scan every dependency, map breaking changes, and apply high-volume automated code transformations across the codebase. Personally validated every compliance-critical component, platform-specific behaviour, and core user flow by hand - the parts that couldn't be delegated.
The Outcome
Production-ready, compliant release delivered in 4 days versus the typical 4-8 weeks. 92% of the codebase preserved. Zero regressions. 100% first-submission approval on Google Play. 15% faster app startup as a side effect of the migration. Programme continuity preserved with no interruption to fieldwork.
Why This Matters
Speed under a hard deadline does not have to mean cutting corners. The parts of the migration that carried real risk - compliance, platform behaviour, core flows - stayed under direct human review the entire time. AI compressed the mechanical work, not the judgment.
